Wrapping Up Affiliate Summit East 2009
The JAR Group attended Affiliate Summit East this week and the event definitely made a huge impact. The three day conference flew by, but not before the JAR team had a chance to party in a limo-bus, raise money for charity, raffle off some awesome prizes, and of course hear some great speakers and meet tons of new people. The event kicked-off on Sunday with the Meet Market, which gave us a chance to talk to people about our clients and affiliate management services. On Monday the Exhibit Hall opened and the booth-cruising madness began! Most people recognized our booth by the huge flat screen tvs we had had hooked up to xBox 360s. Of course we weren’t playing video games in our booth for no reason - we were having fun and raising money for the fight against breast cancer. We pledged a donation for every person who stopped by and killed some zombies or aced some trivia on xBox 360, and we’re still calculating the amount raised, but we should be sharing the total amount with you soon.
The JAR limo-bus also made its debut on Monday, and it definitely made quite an impression! We rode around Midtown in style while staying busy chatting with our merchants, publishers, and affiliate network partners, all the while serving free drinks and snacks. I can say with some confidence that the limo-bus will be back, so if you didn’t get a chance to take a tour around town, you might not be totally out of luck. Tuesday was the last day of the conference, and there were some awesome speakers and class sessions. A huge highlight was Tuesday’s keynote speaker, Peter Shankman (@skydiver). If you missed it you can still watch it here. We highly recommend it!
After the conference, we selected the winners of the business card drawing we held throughout the conference. Some of the prizes we gave away on behalf of our affiliate clients were a Greensbury Market Organic Meat Sampler, a Canon Mini 260 Photo Printer, and an 8GB iPod Touch. Congratulations to the lucky winners! We’ll be reaching out to them this week and posting all the winners soon.
We will be talking to some of you that we met at the conference soon. And who knows, perhaps we will see you in Vegas for Affiliate Summit West 2010!. In sum, great people were met, prizes were won, zombies were killed, money for breast cancer was raised, and most importantly, good times were had!
