We Create Value: JAR 2009 in Review

Let me tell you the basics, in 2009 The JAR Group grew over 75% year over year to over $3 million in revenue while remaining profitable for the third consecutive year. We were able to achieve this success by creating value. How did we create value? Let’s look back at 2009.

Last year we increased awareness, partnerships, and traffic for our clients, which translated into more revenue for them, i.e., value. This is what we are in business to do, but by adding value for our clients, also importantly, we were able to add other value to other areas of our lives which makes us all richer.

We added industry value, by joining the conversation going on in the online marketing space. Throughout 2009 we spoke at conferences like the Affiliate Convention and Philly Podcamp, and were able to share our knowledge and research on the JAR blog. We also brought in 10 great new team members and were able to increase the amount of training and education we all receive. By building our team to provide value for our clients, we were able to afford the ability to provide value to our industry.

Despite the fact that we grew by 75% (which kept us really, really busy), we were able to add value to local, national, and international causes, such as participating in the growth of Digital DUMBO into a focal point of the DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass), Brooklyn business environment. We also partnered to create Bloganthropy, a way for bloggers to give value back to their own communities.

In 2009 we also ran fundraisers for charities (our “Kill a Zombie for Breast Cancer Research” booth at Affiliate Summit East 2009), donated money ourselves, volunteered, and joined charity boards and steering committees to make difference in the world. We, at the JAR Group, are committed to giving back to great causes.

Underlining this is the fact we also utilized 10% of our profits to provide pro-bono services for charities, such as, the Brooklyn Community Foundation, Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, and NYU FACES (Finding A Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures).

For us, value isn’t only about generating dollars, but the ability to make a difference for clients, our teammates, our communities and our industry. In 2009, we worked hard to achieve this.

Looking to 2010, we plan to create even more value for our clients. By doing so, we will bring an even greater value to the people that are important to us.

Best wishes for a Happy New Year! Please contact me, ” aj @ thejargroup.com” or at Twitter.com/ajlawrence if you would like discuss creating value.
