The JAR Group’s Newest Service Offering - Search Ego™, Proactive Reputation Management
It’s official. We kicked off the Search Ego™ service last week by offering it up for auction at the benefit, Social Media for Social Change.
The idea for Search Ego™ started out a few years ago when we started realizing the vast business networking opportunities available to you when you have a positive presence on the search engines and social networks. An additional benefit to creating these many touchpoints online is that you end up owning a much greater portion of the search results when somebody Google’s your name. As Google becomes more popular, Googling contact’s names becomes popular, and the message that shows up around that name is now their reputation. Who wouldn’t want to be the one who owns their search results, their reputation?
The problem we have seen is that many of the people who could most take advantage of these opportunities are the ones that don’t have the time or experience necessary to really optimize their online presence: executives, lawyers, doctors, etc. Search Ego™ is the service that establishes and then manages the overall online presence for these people. This entails tactics such as registering your name across all important social networks to prevent name hijacking, building a homepage that is a central source connecting all online information about you, keeping information up to date and relevant, monitoring progress, tracking mentions about you across the web, and occasionally responding to negativity around your reputation. There are several other online reputation management companies that deal in burying negative search results around your name, however this is just a small portion of what a Proactive Reputation Management campaign should be.
