ICANN Change the World

Mon 06.30 2008 | Jennifer Shinn

Look out cybersquatters, the rules are changing. ICANN just approved a recommendation that will allow for self-selected top level domain registrations.  The .com’s, .org’s and .tv’s will be expanded to include .brandname, .yourname, and .anythingyouwant.

If you own www.pledgeofallegince.com, which is for sale at Go Daddy’s auction for $312,000, or www.tone.com, which can be yours for only $80,000, sell quickly!  There is going for be a whole new world of competition very soon. While the complete details of the plan won’t be approved by the ICANN board until early 2009, they are opening the door for change.

The JAR Group’s SEMPO 2008 Board of Directors Voting Recommendations

It’s the time of year for voting for everyone’s favorite SEMPO board of directors. A lot of the fun is watching the evolution of the candidates from this year. This year’s SEMPO Board candidates are a bit less diverse then last years and I believe a bit less globally inclined.

This is especially important to the growth of the JAR Group. We would like a SEMPO organization that is growing it’s global presence and it ability to help its members look towards the future of the search marketing space.

As such, there are a few candidates who I recommend whole heartily….

Massimo Burgio is among the pioneer group of SEMPO founders and has always been involved with the Global Committee. He has Chaired that committee since 2005, and the European Working Group, that he started Chairing at the end of last summer.

Search Before You Sell

This is my first blog post, so let me introduce myself. My name is Dave Gaetano, Director of Business Development at The JAR Group. I am a Syracuse University graduate majoring in Finance, minor in Economics. I am also a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law, and a licensed Connecticut attorney.

Besides the benefits of being able to cheer for two major athletic programs, I bring a vast background to The JAR Group. I have been with The JAR group one year, and look forward to introducing our services and capabilities to you.

My first exposure ever to the wonders of computers talking to each other came in 1989 at Syracuse University. I was taught how to ping the Syracuse airport for a weather report by an engineering friend. Being a weather nerd in a Snow Belt city, I found this entirely entertaining, but useless to the outside world.
